There are many tomes available detailing the histopathological features of both general surgical pathology entities and organ specific pathologies. In addition, several texts present aspects of developmental, fetal and placental pathology. However, for the specialist paediatric pathologist with a significant paediatric surgical specimen workload, and for the practising general surgical pathologist faced with reporting paediatric surgical specimens, although information regarding many of the specific entities affecting childhood is available in the former texts, such information requires searching of many disjointed books. Therefore, the aim of this publication is to present a comprehensive and detailed account, which brings together and covers all, or at least most, paediatric surgical pathological entities in a single volume, to allow rapid access for day-to-day use by practising histopathologists

Published Reviews
''This much-needed, comprehensive, yet concise, book marshals the broad field of pediatric surgical pathology into a single volume that offers rapid access to information for surgical pathologists in their day-to-day work. It also targets pathology residents, providing the structural framework of information that trainees need to build a solid knowledge base in pediatric pathology. The audience includes pediatric pathologists and general pathologists who are responsible for signing out pediatric surgical specimens.''
Daniel John Lalich, M.D. (University of Kansas Medical Center)
''The book contains more than 1,000 color illustrations, which clearly were carefully chosen to best represent key features of the entities discussed. In a book of this nature, image quality is critically important, and most of the photomicrographs are beautifully done. In addition, gross images, color diagrams, and electron micrographs are included where appropriate. One of the pleasures of this book is its practicality. Written by pediatric surgical pathologists for diagnostic pathologists, the tone reflects a fundamental understanding of the demands and challenges imposed upon modern surgical pathologists.''
Bruce R. Pawel, MD (The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia)
