Clinical applications in airway management are dependent on both the anatomy of the individual, and the individual's co-morbidities, with different tools available for different patient presentations. The first edition of this atlas presented the most commonly used tools via clinical photos, and demonstrated proper and improper positioning with photos utilizing cross-sectional cadaver anatomy so the relevant anatomy in relation to the equipment could be clearly seen. The second edition presents an improved and enlarged text. New sections have been created on pediatric applications, bronchoscopy, special airway considerations in the emergency room and the ICU, and post-intubation care issues. There are also new chapters on airway management for patients with obstructive sleep apnea and morbid obesity, as well as a new chapter on airway issues for gynecologic patients. A new section exists for surgical situations requiring specialized airway management. The second edition comes with a website that includes instructional videos and the fully searchable contents of the book.
